I'm A Soccer Mom

Owen had his first soccer game yesterday. He did really well. He made a great pass and took out a kid on the other team who was trying to score. We were proud of him. Apparently we didn't get the memo about how loud and excited we were supposed to be at the game. We sat in the bleachers with the other parents on our team and they didn't stop yelling the entire game. Now in fairness we're not really "yelling" people at sporting events.  We're also not really soccer people so it is hard to yell when you're not completely sure of the rules. I was kind of surprised by how "into" the game everyone was. I mean they are only 5 and 6 year olds. Well, at the end of the game both Jeff and I were completely stunned. All of the parents walked down from the bleachers and onto the field. I just figured they were going to get their kids. Boy was I wrong. Next thing I know every parent has lined up putting their hands together, forming a "spirit tunnel" for each team to run through. Jeff and I were still sitting on the bench. I guess that memo got lost too. I'm sure it is a morale boost for the kids, but it seemed silly to me. All I could think of was how ridiculous my brother would have found the whole thing. Hey Dev, maybe you and the other parents could form a tunnel for Luke's team to skate through! All in all it was a good day. Owen had a good time and that is why we signed up for soccer. I'm just not sure I'm cut out to be a soccer mom. Especially if I'm secretly chuckling about all the fuss and excitement.

Jeff decided to cut some hair. Not just any hair, but Owen's hair. It started off ok, but in the end there wasn't much left. Neither O nor I were thrilled with the result. Jeff seemed to be proud. It didn't help that he kept getting compliments on Owen's hair cut at church. I'm not sure he'll be allowed to cut again. He's been watching instructional videos on youtube. At least he didn't try to cut Alison's hair.

Is that fear or excitement?

Definitely fear!

Everyday Alison

This post is for my mom to see how Alison talks and interacts on a regular basis. I'm trying to remember to video her from time to time so we can remember all the fun things she says and does. She was so funny with these magnetic words last night. I wish I would have videoed more. She has a hard time getting up because she hurt her leg last week. In her words "Daddy jumped and I got hurt". Jeff got on the neighbor's trampoline with the kids last week and some how Alison hurt her leg. She wouldn't walk on it for days. She's much better and had negative xrays, but that is why it takes her awhile to get up off the floor. Jeff felt really bad after she got hurt and was really glad there wasn't a broken bone. :) I think we're done with trampolines!
