Goodbye Mr. President

The events of the past week have consumed my thoughts and my prayers. I was appalled when I heard how President Bush was treated as he left the White House and The Capitol. I have talked to many friends and family who felt the same way. Today a friend of mine told me about this song. I came home and googled it and now I want to share it with those of you who were just as heartbroken as me, watching a man of character and integrity be treated with such disrespect. Goodbye Mr. President and thank you for your service!

P.S. remember to turn of the music at the bottom before you hit play

A Nod to BigMama

Big Mama had a post about scarf tying in her Fashion Friday section last week. I was excited about getting some of my scarves out and giving them a try especially since it's been a little cold here lately. I won't tell you how cold because it will just prove that we have become wimps living in warm climates the past 8 years. Anyway, what I chose to wear to church did not go with the pink scarves I had gotten out so I left them on the bed. Alison came in to help me get ready and when she saw the pink fuzzy one she said "ooh I wear it mommy". I didn't think she'd actually wear it to church all day, but she did. My little fashion girl. If she's like this at 2 I think I'm in trouble at 16.

Oh and by the way if you don't read Big Mama on a regular basis you are missing out. She's fantastic!

Pizza in the sky is a great restaurant. We had been wanting to find it since we moved here and Grandma and Grandpa's visit was the perfect reason to go. AFter a long windy drive up hill we found it. The view was beautiful and the pizza was yummy. If you come visit I promise to take you there!

We took Grandma and Grandpa to Okinawa World on New Year's Day.

Bittersweet

This military life is sure bittersweet. I love it for all the places we have seen, the people we have met, and the experiences we've had. How rich our lives are because of this crazy Navy life. But I hate it for all the red tape, the silly rules, and for all the times we have to say goodbye. Whether it is saying goodbye to family or to friends we've made at each duty station it is bittersweet to say goodbye. It hurts, sometimes deeply. But if we hadn't moved we would've missed out on knowing people in the first place and we'd have no where for people to come visit us.

This morning the kids and I drove Grandma and Grandpa to the airport. I was worried about my O. Last night he cried about them leaving for about 30 minutes. That sweet heart of his is truly going to break mine one day. Nothing in my life is harder than watching my sweet boy hurt. I asked some friends to pray for him and I can tell they were because he did great this morning. A little teary, but he did it. I was so proud of him. I want to acknowledge that it is sad to say goodbye, but I also want to remind him to be grateful that we had 2 weeks to spend with them and that we will see them again.

"Don't be sad because it's over, be glad that it happened." And that is what we are going to do!
